About Abraham Lincoln High School Tennis Courts

Abraham Lincoln High School Tennis Courts, located at 171 Wabash Ave, San Jose, CA 95128, stands as a prominent public tennis facility in the heart of Silicon Valley, serving both the local community and the broader San Jose area. With a reputation for accessibility and quality, these courts provide a vital recreational and athletic resource for players of all ages and skill levels. The facility is situated on the campus of Abraham Lincoln High School, a well-established institution within the San Jose Unified School District, known for its academic rigor and vibrant extracurricular offerings, including a strong tradition in athletics[2]. The school’s mascot, the Lion, and its blue and gold colors reflect a spirit of pride and excellence that extends to its sports facilities, including the tennis courts.

The Abraham Lincoln High School Tennis Courts feature eight well-maintained courts, making it one of the larger public tennis venues in the region[1]. This capacity allows for simultaneous play by multiple groups, accommodating everything from casual matches among friends to organized tournaments and school team practices. The courts are open to the public, providing an inclusive space where community members can enjoy the sport without the need for private club memberships or excessive fees. This accessibility is particularly valuable in an urban area like San Jose, where public recreational spaces are in high demand.

While the courts are a hub for tennis activity, it is important for visitors to note that amenities such as restrooms and water sources may be limited, especially during non-school hours or special events[3]. Prospective players should plan accordingly, bringing their own water and being aware of the facility’s basic offerings. Despite these limitations, the courts remain a popular destination due to their central location, ample playing space, and the quality of the playing surfaces. The venue has hosted open tennis tournaments, drawing participants from across the Bay Area and highlighting its role as a community gathering place for sports enthusiasts[3].

Abraham Lincoln High School itself has a rich history, dating back to its establishment in the early 1940s, and has cultivated a legacy of student achievement and community engagement[4]. The school’s emphasis on β€œAble, Loyal, Honest, and Service” reflects a commitment to character and citizenship that resonates throughout its programs, including athletics[4]. The tennis courts, as an extension of the school’s mission, offer more than just a place to playβ€”they provide a setting where values such as teamwork, discipline, and respect are fostered through sport.

The location of the courts at 171 Wabash Ave places them within easy reach of major transportation routes and neighborhoods, enhancing their appeal to a diverse cross-section of San Jose residents. Whether for students honing their skills as part of the school’s tennis team, local leagues organizing competitive play, or individuals seeking a friendly match, the courts cater to a wide range of tennis activities. The facility’s public nature also means it plays a role in promoting physical fitness and healthy lifestyles within the community, aligning with broader public health goals.

In addition to serving as a recreational asset, the Abraham Lincoln High School Tennis Courts contribute to the local economy by attracting visitors who may patronize nearby businesses before or after their matches. The courts’ presence supports the vibrancy of the neighborhood, encouraging outdoor activity and social interaction. For tennis enthusiasts in San Jose, the courts represent a reliable and welcoming option, free from the exclusivity often associated with private clubs.

Looking ahead, the Abraham Lincoln High School Tennis Courts are poised to continue their role as a cornerstone of community tennis in San Jose. With ongoing maintenance and potential future upgrades, the facility can further enhance the player experience and remain a destination for both casual and competitive tennis. For those seeking a quality, accessible, and community-oriented tennis experience in San Jose, the courts at Abraham Lincoln High School stand out as a premier choice, embodying the school’s tradition of excellence and service to the community.

Just played a Tennis San Jose league match on Saturday morning. Suggested by my opponent. This was a great place to play. Very few cracks on the courts, mostly behind the baseline. Ample parking. Port-A-Potty available. Not a busy place, we walked on at 8:30 am with no wait. Feels like a hidden gem in San Jose.

Total 8 tennis courts, which are in okay condition. There are lot of big cracks on almost all courts. No lights. But good thing is courts are always available and new parking lot next to the courts.

I went to school here, performing arts was the way to go. Track and field, football, choir softball, baseball, soccer, basketball and even a swim team. you name it this school has it. My daughter has one more year of middle school and then she'll be going to Lincoln she has so much in her background that this school will not only help her but progress her for more

One of the best tennis courts in the area. Well maintained and a good amount of people from various companies play here. Good place to catch up tennis with friends and to network.

Sat and Sunday of November 21st and 22 nd, an open tennis tournament was held on Lincoln High tennis courts. There were NO BATHROOMS. NO SOURCE OF WATER AND NO OFFICIAL REFEREE. As a College Tennis Coach and Tennis Pro with PTR Certification, I have never been to a worse tournament and will never return. Know I know why the draw was so small. Thanks.
